Go-kart racers at Motorama can range in age from 3 to well into their 70’s. You have to be in good health. Most drivers weigh between 50 and 250 pounds. Some drivers have no experience racing, some are coming back from car racing or motorcycle racing. Many families race together. Mothers, fathers and their kids all have karts and race competitively. Karting is the ultimate family sport. We find that parents who often support their children end up getting their own equipment and joining in the fun of racing. If you have really big dreams of a career in racing, you may already know that karting has produced some of the best professional racers. Practically every driver from NASCAR to Formula One got their start in go-karts at places like our local tracks.
Most sports have an element of danger. Karting is no exception. It is the racer’s responsibility to put safety first, by using high quality safety equipment and preparing their kart according to the rules outlined most often by the World Karting Association. By minimizing risk and maximizing good sportsmanship and communication between racers, spectators and officials, karting has evolved into a highly organized sport where racers can prepare their machine and test their metal against like-minded competitors in a safe, fast and fun environment.
We have state champion level racers as well as veteran drivers with over 50 years of racing experience at Motorama. AND this year, we’re offering something new and exciting…The JUICEBOX DIVISION. This class was created for parents looking to get their VERY young kids into competitive kart racing. You will see tikes a young as 3 years old bravely take a seat in a “Radio Flyer Ultimate Kart”. These karts are capable of a max speed of 8 mph. It will introduce the “juicehead” to the sport of racing. It will allow them to determine if they like it or not without breaking their parent’s bank account. This machine weighs-in at about 46 lbs and is made of plastic and steel. Its power source is a 24-volt battery. The current price is about $400 and can be purchased on Amazon. No modifications are allowed to the original equipment from the manufacturer, as this is a performance-based rule. However, changes can be made to the body, fairing, steering wheel and decals. The JuiceBox Division will run a heat and feature both Saturday and Sunday during the Motorama events.
