Welcome to the Northwest Building, Home of the 27th Annual Quarter Midget Racing Competition at Motorama
1/4 Midgets like any other forms of motorsports are technical & require a lot of thought, patience, and learning. We see newcomers get involved in the sport every year not having any idea what to do, how to do it, or even get started. With practice, these youngsters develop into competitive racers learning the skills needed to drive and character as they quickly learn good sportsmanship.
Witness some of the finest racing from very young drivers. This is not a sanctioned event but is run using NASCAR Youth Series, Motor & Chassis rules. Please enjoy your time with us, enjoy watching these competitive youngsters in some very heated duels, The drivers try as hard as they can to reach that finish line first. Feel free to walk around our pit area and talk with the parents of our young racers – drivers are able to start training at age 4 1/2 years old, who knows, maybe your family will join us next year on the track.
Motorama 2023 delivered some amazing racing, very clean & smart driving, The young guys & girls, yes girls, which are quite a few when you notice them with their helmets off, put on a thrilling, nail biting, seat clinging show for the crowds. As you watch these “NEXT GENERATION” drivers compete you will be left in shock and awe to know the oldest age bracket allowed to participate is 16 years of age. There are also a lot of single digit drivers 5- 9 years old who are fresh behind the wheel but fearless on the track. Drivers are eligible to drive up to 4 classes each based on their age & weight. The more classes they run, the more laps they turn, and at the end of the day gain the most experience they can. We refer to this as passion, yes even young children have passion & know how to express it. Some of the drivers you see today, you will see at a racetrack near you in a few years racing full size midgets, modifieds & micros as they grow and move on – and yes, all racer’s motors and chassis are teched for safety before any racing begins.
We ask everyone who is either a spectator or participant to have patience, understanding and to exhibit good sportsmanship. Everyone competing is here to race and hopefully win, sometimes we lose sight as to the real objective of teaching sportsmanship to the drivers as well as the parents. There is only one winner per race, so this is teaching the kids how to lose gracefully & to congratulate their peers for a win.
I would like to thank all our quarter midget staff, Hostetter Family & Motorama Staff for them graciously giving up 3 days of their time to put on one of the best shows on the east coast. Thank you for stopping by and spending some time with us here in the Northwest Hall of Motorama and please help spread the word about this awesome sport & event. Hope you enjoyed the show and safe travels home.
The Quarter Midget Operation Team
Our TEAM, without this team, we would never be able to put this show on. Every member has either raced on this track or their child has, there are many years of experience here. Members are Lisa and Makenzie Erlsten (pit steward, runner, other duties) , Kelly and Otto Hixon (pit steward, announcing, tech, track set up and tear down. Christina Healy (head scorer) Samantha King (scorer), Jessica Beane ( scorer); Jen and Tim Henry (pit steward, runner, tech, track set up and tear down), Lori and Jason Van Doran (pit steward, runner and tech track set up and tear down), Heather and Kyle Knecht (pit steward, runner, tech, track setup and tear down ), Michelle and Rob Pinder (race parts trailer and tech), Nicole Flood (flagger), Dan Lane (race director), Brittany Edgar (flagger / registration), and Sherry Beinhower (photographer). As you can see it takes quite a team to make this all happen.
